Dear Parents/Guardians of Primary Students for the 2026/27 School Year,
We are very excited to be welcoming your children to primary in September! Some of you are already part of the Sunnyside Elementary School Community with students in our pre-primary program or older siblings in our school and others will be joining us for the first time. Regardless of which group you are in, starting primary school is a big milestone in a child’s life.
To help you prepare for this, we are planning both a primary orientation from 1:30-2:30pm on Thursday, June 4th and a new primary parent information session that evening at 6:30pm. The orientation for our incoming primary students in the English program will involve them spending an hour in the current primary class at Eaglewood, and our French Immersion students at the Fort Sackville site. The students will be able to spend a bit of time with primary and learning support teachers. Please drop your child off at 1:30 and pick them up at 2:30pm.
Our parent/guardian meeting will be at 6:30 pm at our Eaglewood site in the music room.
We will meet with parents/guardians to talk about our school and school readiness. We will provide you with an outline of what primary is like and things that you can be doing with your children to get them ready for primary.
